Hanoi Old quarter

During your stay in Hanoi, don't miss wandering in the Hanoi Old quarter with 36 streets named as products sold in each street: Silver street, Jam street, Sugar street, Silk street, Sails street, paper street, ...
During different historical periods, the Old quarter had variety of guilds. Under Le dynasty (during 15 and 18 centuries), guild is a group of people working in the same trade who gave the name of their trades to the streets where they did their business.
Historical remarks show that the Hanoi Old Quarter had been given name during the time of Ly dynasty when Thang Long was chosen to be the country's capital in 1010.
